In my relentless pursuit to bring you interviews with the biggest names in showbiz…I’ve actually stumbled across one really cool cat. A riveting performer of sleek style and perfect timing. A versatile thespian (who really wants to direct) known as Mel Gibskin. You know him best as the defrosted Mr. Bigglesworth – Dr. Evil’s hairless feline in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. A role which earned him critical praise - albeit among his four-legged peers. And if that wasn't enough, he’ll prowl the screen once again this month in the anticipated sequel - Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me!But as with so many who have hit it big in Hollywood, it’s been a long and rough nap to the top.

He’s still in therapy over being the smallest in the litter…former co-stars claim he’s difficult to work with, and earlier this year he admitted to having a catnip habit. But perhaps his biggest obstacle came when rumors claimed that he was actually a shaved Persian. The horror.

Recently I caught up with Mel and asked him to tell his side of the story. Here’s what he had to say…

BBB: First, let’s get the rumors out of the way. Are you really shaved?
Mel: Let’s set the record straight Betty. I am a very rare breed of cat. Contrary to popular belief, I’m actually a sphynx.

BBB: And I’m Pamela Anderson’s body double.
Mel: No, really I am. Cat Fanciers of America estimate that out of 65 million cats living in American households, only 1,300 are sphynxes.

BBB: Impressive. I’m sure that didn’t hurt your chances of getting on July’s cover of Cats magazine.
Mel: Well it didn’t hurt. I mean, where’s my competition? Actually I got the cover because I’ve been awarded Cat of The Year.

BBB: Hmm, you’ve got a good agent.
Mel: Yeah, but they always think that you’re taking 90% of their money.

BBB: True. But didn’t Mike Myers have anything to do with your success?
Mel: I like to let him feel like he did. He’s a nice kid. Canadian you know.

BBB: Yes, I believe he is.
Mel: "Mr. Bigshot Movie Star," my paw. I actually had to help him! I can’t tell you how many times he asked me to go over lines with him. Then there was that day when I had to pull him off the craft services table… it was downright embarrassing. But what's a cat to do? I love the big lug.

BBB: Since you seem to be taking a lot of credit for the film, can you tell us anything about the sequel? Any love scenes with Heather Graham?
Mel: Well, I did get my hopes up after seeing Boogie Nights, but unfortunately, the director didn’t share my vision.

BBB: Yeah, maybe The Cat Who Shagged Me wouldn’t have worked as well.
Mel: It works for me
